I hope you rang in the new year just the way that you wanted too! I myself had to work a 12 hour shift the next day so I wasn't awake, but as soon as I woke up I was sure to give the hubs a new year's kiss!

The new year is off to a good start so far, I've already organized my closet and have giant garbage bags worth of clothes and shoes that are ready to go to be donated.

Hitting the gym might even be in store for me later in the day! Here's to a healthier, happier, and more organized new year!

These are my next projects a gilded pinecone wreath, if I can steal a bunch from my parent's house while I'm there! I think after Christmas when all the ornaments go on sale I might even try to make a garland as well!

Why is it that as soon as I chop off my long locks out of sheer boredom, I find all of these fantastic things that I could have been doing with my hair?

I know this video has been floating around the blogosphere, but I couldn't resist sharing it for those of you who haven't seen it. I definiely prefer the second method in this video where the hair is tucked into the bun. I've done this style on a couple of my friends and am always so jealous of how it turns out.

I think this would look great for a more formal occasion! My hair is actually long enough for this one, I just don't put it in a floppy bun before I tuck it in.

How have I never learned how to braid like this? I'm a pro at french braiding, I can't wait to try this.

Stocking Stuffers

I love getting all the goodies out of my stocking, I might actually like it more than opening the gifts under the tree. This is probably due to the fact that my Mom has stuffing stockings down to an art.

I've learned that you can never go wrong with chocolate, anything from sephora, and jewelry

Candy is a nice and cheap stocking filler, but for people who don't like sweets (what is wrong with you!?!) you can always through in a few k-cups!

I'm a few days late, but one of the things that I'm thankful for is my mother in law. I really lucked out with her. Not only is she one of the nicest ladies I know, but she is also super crafty. For Christmas she is making us slipcovers for our couches....yayy! Our light grey couches look more light brown, and they show every single dog hair.

I chose navy duck cloth with white piping, here were a few images from my pinterest account that served as inspiration.

THE MOST AMAZING PLAYROOM!!!

Have you ever thought that you saved an image and then later were unable to find it? I spied this amazing playroom/living room months and months ago and have been searching for it ever since!

I searched "Blue velvet ottoman, awesome playroom, modern playroom" but no such luck. Finally last week I found it, and how amazing is this room!?! Well actually, I learned that it was a booth by Style at Home created for the 2011 Interior Design Show in Toronto. It will definitely be serving as inspiration for when I have kiddos of my own....a long way down the road.

The awesome painted cabinets are actually an ikea hack!

I know we haven't even celebrated Thanksgiving yet, but I already have Christmas on the brain. It is my favorite holiday after all, and it's not because I have a major case of the want its. I wish I had enough money to give gifts all year round, I love picking out a thoughtful gift for someone. I pride myself on not waiting until the last minute. Each gift I give has been carefully picked out, and so I would like to begin my gift finder series.

I love that trunk, and how about those boots. If I didn't already own two pairs of wellies I would snatch those puppies right up!

Wedding Recap Part III

I am crazy detail oriented so I wanted to share all the little details of our wedding. The table cards were letterpressed and from BHLDN. I loved them, I just wish that that stupid holder wasn't crooked, but like I said I'm a little too detail oriented so I'll try to hold in my OCD on that one.

I wanted to include an equestrian touch to our wedding so I ordered horse show ribbons and then we glued on custom labels that my Mom and Brother created. These were one of my favorite details of our wedding.

Our invitations and programs were designed by Melissa Baldwin of Elf Letterpress on etsy. I loved the look of letterpress and Melissa was very reasonable. My Mom actually picked these!

The menu board was another DIY, I bought a giant frame from Michaels and then used chalkboard spray paint. One of my bridesmaids was kind enough to write out the menu for me.

I loved our venue! Cocktail hour took place on the terrace and then the ceremony and reception were on the lawn overlooking the lake.

My Mom and our florist crafted this beautiful arbor for us. I loved how it turned out!

I created these drink stirrers using a tutorial from Peach and Pearl

Originally I wanted to use blue and white porcelain as vases but my Mom sent me a link for milk glass and I was sold. She found the milk glass at yard sales, etsy, and ebay.

I wanted flowers all over the table instead of just a few arrangements. I was pretty disappointed when I found out doing this with peonies and ranunculus wasn't an option, but I love how it turned out in the end.

I love this shot of my shoes. I'm proud to say that I lasted an hour into the reception before switching into some comfy shorter heels, and then I only lasted another hour or so before I changed into my Jacks.

My Mom surpised me with a horse and buggy, It wouldn't have been my wedding without some ponies!

Campaign Nightstand DIY

I was messing around on polyvore last night, and was pretty surprised when the campaign DIY that I made was posted on the blog this morning. I'm going to take it as a sign that I need to start blogging again, either that or I need to straighten out my polyvore settings. Anywhoo, sorry for the long absence, I was feeling a little uninspired after the wedding. The wedding was everything that I wanted it to be, and more, but all the planning involved really wore me out. I'll be sure to do a post with wedding pics later.

In the mean time we'll just have to discuss the campaign nightstand makeover that I worked on last night. So awhile back I fixed up this great campaign nightstand that I found on craigslist (link to post:http://equestrianelegance.blogspot.com/2010/04/craigslist-campaign-makeover.html).

I loved how it turned out, and I am determined to find a matching one for the other side. It has been over a year and my efforts have been fruitless. I've searched near my parent's house, my house, and M.'s parent's house. I've decided that if I can't find a suitable match that I will have to make one myself, which is why I was trolling online last night when I should have been sleeping.

I am a huge fan of Anthropologie, so when one of my bridesmaid's texted me "Anthro is doing bridal!!!!! omfg soo psyched!!!!" I was pretty freaking psyched.

I have an obcession with letterpress, so when I spotted these beauties I was smitten.

I can't wait to see how they look on our tables!

Currently I'm working on a floor plan. The reception is taking place under a tent and we're going to be using long tables. Hopefully the end result will look something like the inspiration pictures that I have been saving for YEARS.

Rehearsal Dinner Dress?

I have been lusting over a zebra cow hide rug for awhile now, and today I finally made an offer on a big ol stripey rug on ebay. I can't wait to see if I won!

I didn't realize how many zebra rug photos I had saved on my computer until I started this post! I have even more photos of zebra rugs than I have of twin beds. Do you remember that post?

I'm not surprised considering zebra rugs look great everywhere; in bedrooms, foyers, living rooms, and even nurseries. My favorite look is the zebra rug layered over a natural fiber rug or carpet.

If I had cute little boobies I would soooo be wearing this dress at my reception. I mean, is it precious of what? I have a soft spot with swiss dots, and this pretty little number has just solidified my obsession.

The dress is from the Sarah Seven collection, which I hadn't heard of before. It is aptly named the "elope dress." It makes me want to do just that!

Weekly Wedding Post

OK so my weekly wedding post has turned into my weekly post. There has definitely been a lack of blogging around these parts, which has to do with the fact that I am now working just night shift...not by choice :( It's hard to find the motivation to do much of anything when I work every other night.

Anywhooo, I've finally picked out dresses for my bridesmaids. Remember when I said that I wanted them in all different colors? And remember when I said that if they were in the same color, then I wanted them to wear different styles? I LIED! I thought that I wanted those things but then saw these pictures and I changed my mind.

Style Me Pretty

I ordered a kajillion dresses, and J.Crew's Lorelei Dress won. Unfortunately, they don't have that style in navy, but they do have it in Caspian Blue, which is the color of the dresses in the first pic. It has a little bit of a grayish undertone, which I think will go really well with the guys seersucker suits.

How adorable! I mean it really looks like this poor girl has a starfish stuck on her, I love it. This starfish will cost you nearly 200 clams...not so cute in my opinion.

5 Things!

The nearly newlywed KAG of Monograms and Manicures in Manhattan/Boston tagged me to share 5 things that I never leave home without.

Truth be told I am the worst about leaving home with anything at all, no phone, no wallet, no problem...especially when I'm just going to the barn. M. is always harping on me about how it's not safe so I have been a lot better about bringing at least my phone along with me.

1. I can't really leave our house without driving so when I do leave I always make sure to have my Garmin with me. I have the worst sense of direction ever, this little gadget has saved me on countless occasions!

2. I always have a tube of Rosebud Salve around. I love this lip salve and am thrilled that it now comes in a tube. That stupid tin was so hard to open, plus no more greasy fingers!

3. I am notorious for leaving the house with my hair down, but I normally have it back up in a pony tail within a few hours. There is no worse feeling than wanting to put up your hair and not having a hair tie.

4. Lately I've been carrying around this book in hopes that any day I will get the call from the anesthesia school that I applied too. Unfortunately they said that they wouldn't be making and final decisions until March, so until then I will continue to read a couple of pages when I can.

5. I'm going to have to steal this one from KAG, I never leave home without my engagement ring. I catch myself staring at it though out the day and it never fails to make me smile. I started out not wearing my ring to work because I was afraid that it would accidentally slip off when I removed one of the kajillion pairs of gloves that I wear each night. I am constantly checking to make sure that it's still snug on my finger.

I asked my Mom if she thought I had enough pink ribbons for this, and she laughed and said that she hoped not. Pink ribbons are fifth place in the horse show world, and only blues and maybe reds are welcomed in our home.

I love a great eyeshadow palate. I don't wear much makeup, but I do enjoy a subtle sheen of shadow on my lid. I always play it safe with golden browns, and so far my favorite palate has been Bobbi Brown's shimmer brick in beige.

I saw Urban Decay's "Naked" palate a few months ago, but when I went to purchase it online it was sold out. Then last week I got a little email from Sephora letting me know that it was back in stock. HURRAY!!!

It arrived today and it's everything I was hoping for and more in an eyeshadow palate. First of all, it's HUGE, which is great and all but it doesn't fit in my makeup bag haha. Seriously though, there are 12 subtle colors that are all neutral but beautiful. I haven't gotten to play much with it but I'm completely satisfied.

I know I already have a sweet handsome fur baby, but I'm not going to lie, both Cole and I were a little disappointed when there was no puppy underneath our Christmas tree this year.

One day I will get a little fuzz ball underneath my tree, I know this because I have asked for one every year since I was old enough to write a Christmas list. And when I do get my puppy my hysterics will put these kiddies to shame.

Men's Wedding Shoes

Since the guys will be wearing seersucker suits, we're having a hard time deciding what shoes they should wear. Traditionally a seersucker suit is worn with white bucks, but I feel bad making the guys buy shoes that I doubt many of them will ever wear again. Here are the options that I've come up with so far.

1. Everyone wears white bucks

2. M. wears white bucks and the guys wear the same shoe in tan

Home for the Holidays****update

My Christmas cards arrived today so I am in full blown Christmastime mode, which has led me to think a lot about going home to celebrate Christmas! I'm so excited that I get to go home this year, last year I had to work and spent Christmas alone...so sad.

Going home for the holidays means helping Mom with the horses...when I wake up early enough and snuggling on the couch with a warm blanket.

On a side note, I definitely do not look this chic when I go up to feed the ponies. I'm usually bundled up in a huge blue down coat, a neck-warmer, a funky hat, snow pants, and massive gloves. I may have grown up in chilly upstate NY, but you can tell I was born in Southern California, this girl does not like the cold!

Christmas Wishlist

It's not even December yet and I only have a couple of peeps left to buy a present for! I love gift giving, I think long and hard about what each person should get and not to toot my own horn, but I think I usually do a pretty good job. Now that I have pretty much have everyone crossed of my list it's time to think about moi.

So here's what's on my radar this year.

This little guy could help get me out of my hair funk. My hair is either straightened and down, or up in a pony, oh and at work I wear it up and with a cute headband. I lack the dexterity to work hot rollers or a curling iron, but when I tried this gadget out at Sephora yesterday I was pleasantly surprised. Plus Bailey has one, so it's good in my book.

These little pretties from Kendra Scott are adorable...I want...nuff said.

My usual attire in the bedroom is an xxxl shirt from like 10 years ago, so when I went to bed in a pair of flannel jammies the other night, M. said that I looked cute. These Men's style pj's from J.Crew are way cuter than my big old t-shirt, but that's not saying much, plus I love the piping!

I was in Ann Taylor yesterday looking for an interview outfit and was impressed with their goods. This top is super chic, and would look great dressed up or down.

This is definitly my luxe item, a girl can dream right? This Marc Jacobs bag is the perfect fall/winter everyday bag. I don't know if I like it more in navy or black...I wear a lot of blue and I'd hate to look like a smurf with an all blue get up.

One of the benefits of living with your bf before getting married is that you acquire pretty much all of the necessities for married life. This means that you get to register for things that you WANT rather than need.

I WANT Leontine Linens like a fat kid wants cake. I just got off the phone with Brooke, who might as well be named Santa, who helped me register for these. Except we're doing them in navy and white with a scalloped edge, at least for now.

One of the reasons that I've been holding off on registering there is because I couldn't make up my mind about which set I wanted. Well, Brooke/Santa told me that when a guest places an order, a credit is issued to my account. This means that I can change my mind whenever!

So all of these are still an option!

Big news on the wedding front, I found my wedding dress!

This is not a picture of my dress, you guys will have to wait until after the big day for that, but this image from The Bride's Cafe was too pretty not to share.

I made appointments in NYC at the Amsale showroom, but my Mom had encouraged me to try a dress shop in Saratoga Springs. I pretty much just went to Saratoga to appease me Mom because . I had fallen in love with a few Christos and Amsale dresses and thought that one of them would be "the one". Well as soon as I tried on the dress yesterday at the shop in Saratoga I got that feeling. It's simple and elegant and if I do say so myself, it looks freaking amazing on my body!

The order is in and it's currently being custom made, I can't wait for it to arrive so that I can try it on again!

They very well could be the shoes that I wear as I walk down the isle. The only problem is that since we're getting married outside, the isle will be grass and sinking in the grass is pretty much guarenteed when one wears 4 inch heels.

I almost let this dreamy shoe pass me buy, until I remembered about these funky looking things that I read about on Shopafrolic. Yes they are fugly, but will anyone really notice them? If they let me walk on grass without sinking, which is what they promise, then they're worth it. They even make them in gold.

Oh, and if you haven't heard of Shopafrolic before, then you have to check it out. The shopping site is the brainchild of Liz and Jane Lange, who live ....

Out of Towners

Martha recently had an article on how to build a welcome bag for guests, which I found super useful. I really wanted to incorporate The Hamptons/Montauk into our wedding because it's where we got engaged. These little tins came straight out of the article and I think they would be perfect!

I'm also planning on having my super talented Sister design a Mr. Boddington-esque trifold map of my home town. It's a very tourist centered town and I really want all the guests to enjoy themselves when they're not at the wedding.

Besides the map, I also want to include something else from our home town. I'm still a little clueless about what though, I guess I'm have to browse around down town next time I'm home.

Of course I need a cute vessel to carry all of the goodies. I've designed little tote bags using zazzle.com. Please excuse the perforated border inside the bag, I couldn't get it to go away. I'm not sure about the font, but with a little tweaking I'm sure they'll turn out great.

I'd love to hear what you guys would include, or have included in a welcome bag.

In less than two weeks I have my first appointment to try on wedding dresses! Eeek, I can't believe it! Ok this is the part where I'm annoying and bitch about how I'm going to look like a marshmallow because I haven't lost any weight.

I've taken things to the extreme and am on a liquid diet. Well actually, I drink juice for two meals and then TRY to eat a light dinner.

It's a good thing that this stuff turns into liquid when it melts or else my diet would be messed up.

Puss in car

Yesterday morning when I was walking Cole, he went nutso when we got back to our house. I quickly shoved him in the house and that's when I heard it....meow. It wasn't a big old fat cat meow, it was a helpless little lost kitty meow. 15 min of searching led me to pop the hood of the car and there she was.

I plucked her out of my car and brought her into our garage and went upstairs to strategize.
The problem is that Cole thinks kitties make good snacks, so I knew I couldn't keep her. A mass text, Facebook status update, and a few calls later I was still unsuccessful in finding the poor little kitty a home. It breaks my fuzzy creature loving heart that I had to take her to the shelter.

So long little kitty, I hope you find a great home where there isn't a dog that would eat you up in one bite.

Although I have checked a lot off of my wedding to do list, I'm still kind of clueless when it comes to flowers. I met with the florist last time I was home and shared all my inspiration photos that I've been hoarding for years, yes you read that right, I'm a crazy wedding obsessed freak. I left the meeting on a wedding high until my sister said " You know the only thing that you truly decided was that Cole had to have a flower collar."

She was totally right haha. I have no clue what my centerpieces are going to look like, but I know that Cole is going to look spiffy for pictures.

He's going to be decked out in something a little like this.

The picture above started my doggie floral collar obsession!

Cole will most likely not be making an appearance at the wedding because as M. likes to say "racks-a-disaprin." He will however be joining me and the bridal party as we get ready that morning at my house.

How ingenious are the handbag hooks. All of my bags are stuffed into a little ikea shelf thing and they spill out all over the place. That wallpaper is out of control, and the ottoman is lovely.

Right now I'm thinking that I want to let each of them pick their own dress as long as it is one of J.Crew's cotton candy fabric dresses in either navy or caspian blue. I also have major crushes on Lula Kate, Lela Rose, and Jenny Yoo dresses.

Spaz Attack

So I'm applying for Anesthesia school and it's FREAKING ME OUT! I am such a spaz when it comes to this type of thing. Whenever my family or M. brings it up my heart races and I feel like I'm tweaking out on caffeine. What freaks me out the most is the personal statement/career goals stuff. Honestly, writing gives me anxiety. I started this blog in hopes that writing a little bit every day (or week...woops) would fix my writing phobia, but I've just learned that apparently writing is only a problem for me when it's academic in nature.

This is the type of anxiety that only cute puppy searching on you-tube can fix.

Seersucker, not just for Southerners

I couldn't have been happier when M. told me that he wanted to wear a seersucker suit at our wedding. Ever since M. brought up the idea I have been scouring the web and online for a decent seersucker suit. The problem with seersucker suits is that they has to be done just right, if the cut is too full you're man will end up looking like Colonel Sanders. I found a really nice suite with a more modern fit at BrooksBrothers.com but they were completely sold out in the the M's and his groomsmen sizes....bummer.

Last week when M. and I were in San Diego, I stopped by the Brooks Brother's in La Jolla just to see if they had any Seersucker suit's. Lo and behold I found an extremely helpful sales woman who tracked down all the suits in the sizes I needed at 50% off! Yay!!!

All was good until I started doubting our choice, mainly because M's brother got all snarky and said that it would look ridiculous....hater. Up until this afternoon I was having mixed feeling about the suits, then I did my usual bridal blog browsing and saw these pictures on Style me Pretty.

Extra points for the use of ponies!

I am feeling so much better after seeing these pictures. I have fallen back in love with seersucker! I had been torn between pink or navy bridesmaid dresses and after seeing these pictures I am heavily leaning towards navy.

Today I finally sent out the rest of my bridesmaids their cards/packages.

I found these adorable cards on Etsy from Greencard. The store owner was very easy to work with and mailed these babies super fast.

I also included a copy of The Bridesmaid's Guide in each of the packages. I ordered a couple of bridemaid handbooks and I liked this one the best. It's very light hearted and cute but practical as well.

Sick as a Dog

My puppy is recovering on the couch after a case of the sickies and a trip to the vet. He did a little dumpster diving over the weekend and got into the garbage....naughty boy.

My apologies for the lack of blogging lately. Wedding planning is a lot more intense than I thought it would be, but lets talk about something that's a little less stressful and a little more fun.

So last week, I was informed by another blogger that Garnet Hill was having a sale on Lilly Pulitzer bed and bath products......wooo hoo. So I ordered this bath mat in yellow and white. .

I had plans of persuading my mom into making a shower curtain with a hot pink fretwork border a la Leontine Linens. However, my dream was crushed when I opened my package yesterday and realized that I ordered a runner, instead of the traditional bath mat

Now that I have to return the runner, maybe I'll exchange it for the pink bath mat and should order the pink mat and have my lovely, talented (I hope you are reading this) beautiful Mother make me a shower curtain with a yellow border.

I've been saying for years that I could plan our wedding in 2 weeks once M. proposed. Well I've had a great time planning so far, but I've realized that since the wedding isn't until July of next year, I don't have to figure everything out right now.

I must say though, that being a bridesmaid/MOH a couple of times and doing a lot of research online has made the process a lot easier. For example, I've known that I wanted William Gaff from Humanstory Films to film my wedding since I first came across a video clip I saw of his a couple years back.

I described William's work to M. and my parent's as a documentary of our wedding day where family and friends are interviewed. I know interview is kind of a scary word, but William's films are moving and heartfelt.

I stopped by Trina Turk where I fell in love with their changing rooms.....

RRL, which is Ralph Lauren's vintage American sportswear line inspired by the designer's "RRL" ranch in Colorado, had a really unique look. The decor was not really my style but you could tell a lot of effort went into making the store look cowboy chic.

I stopped by Robert Roller Rabbit and fell in love with all the pretty prints.

I'm finally back from vacation, sorry for the lack of posts and comments. I did manage to sneak away and read your blogs, I promise. I had the best vacation of all time! Just Call Me E-Funk

Today I had to put in my requests for my September schedule, like what? Summer is flying by and I'm not very happy about it. My birthday is in September, so Fall is tolerable, but it's a constant reminder that Winter is just around the corner.....unfortunately.

This past Winter's theme seemed to be Snowpocalypse, but this year I will be prepared. I took advantage of Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale and bought The North Face Transit Jacket because my friend in NYC said the jacket kept her warm and toasty all winter long.

Cut to last night, when I was unpleasantly surprised by the shine factor of this jacket. M. says that I might have to start going by E-Funk while wearing it, but according to the gangsta name generator , my name is Old School G, or Clowny Gorilla.....yeah that sounds about right.

Don't mind my sans fards shot, I took it after taking the dog for a walk in 85 degree heat, not the best time to be trying on a down jacket.

Fist Pumping through NJ

This past weekend I attended a wedding in NJ with M. We had a little extra time so we headed to the beach, that's right...the Jersey Shore for some fun.

When M. came out of the ocean his hair looked like this, there must be something in the water there, no blowout necessary.

I got a Shellac manicure and pedicure before I left, and I'm happy to say that I am chip free even after going to the barn and riding. Shellac is similar to "gels" except they are more eco friendly according to the salon owner. Also, rather than getting fills, you have to reapply every two weeks. I chose Shellac rather than gels because it was the less expensive option and I wasn't sure if i wanted to to keep them after two weeks.

I stopped by TJ Maxx yesterday because High Heeled Foot in the Door posted about bamboo that a reader found there. I do love me some bamboo, but I figured my lowly TJ would not have them because usually the selection there is slim. Well, much to my surprise they actually had a cube so I snagged it. Right now it's keeping the dead plant on our patio company. What color should I paint it? Ps...don't mind my peeling deck, its a rental and I plan on getting a rug for it anyway.

That's not all my local TJ had though. I see your bamboo cubes and I raise you a sleek white leather office chair.

Our annual Beach vacation to Montauk is fast approaching, however the search for the perfect swim suit is still underway.

Somehow M. lucked out and has two new swim trunks to don on his beach bum this Summer

....which I had to remind myself of when I saw these fantastic Vibrelequin trunks on Gilt today. If they made a bikini in that print, my search would be over!

Our patio is seriously neglected, there's nothing out there but a plant that I banished from the house after it had the nerve to die on me.

If I had the funds, these chairs could keep my plant company.

Is this not the prettiest shoe in the whole wide world? When I spotted a pair in person for the first time they literally stopped me in my tracks, all I could do was gawk and pet the silky, pretty, soft petals.

They should be arriving in about 5-7 business days, yup I bought them. Note to self, do not online shop at eight o'clock in the morning after working all night. Regardless, I think they're glamorous so I don't regret buying them.

I fully intend on wearing them to some fabulous party where I'll drink some bubbly.
